Edgerton Returning For “Obi-Wan” Series?

As we know, the new series will be set eight years after that film’s ending which saw Obi-Wan delivering the infant Luke Skywalker to his new home with Anakin Skywalker’s stepbrother Owen Lars and his wife Beru on Tatooine.

We also know Ewan McGregor will reprise his role of Obi-Wan for the series which is rumored to run a total of four hours. Now comes a report today which says Australian actor Joel Edgerton, who played young Uncle Owen in both the second and third prequel film, will reprise his role as well.

MTV’s Josh Horowitz penned a tweet saying: “Caught up with Joel Edgerton today. I have almost no doubt based on his coy evasiveness that he will be in the Obi Wan Disney+ series. I’ve seen many an actor playfully evade. I’m placing a big bet that Owen will be back.”

Edgerton is out doing promotion for Netflix’s “The King” film which launches in cinemas next week ahead of a streaming service release in early November. In previous interviews, Edgerton has expressed a desire to return to the role in some way.

The yet-untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi series is expected to begin production sometime next year.
