Weaver: Ripley’s Over The Xenomorphs – Dark Horizons

Filmmaker Ridley Scott remains keen to pursue another chapter in the “Alien” franchise, one that would most likely cap off his “Prometheus” trilogy and link more directly back to his 1979 original masterpiece.

That film’s star Sigourney Weaver, herself having appear in four “Alien” films, recently reflected on her history with the films whilst speaking with Empire and revealed that producer Walter Hill presented her with a 50-page treatment for a new film around late 2018 or early 2019.

It seems the Ellen Ripley-centric movie effectively rose from the ashes of Neill Blomkamp’s cancelled “Aliens” direct sequel, but Weaver says with Scott’s project it’s unlikely she’ll return to her career defining role: “I don’t know. Ridley has gone in a different direction. Maybe Ripley has done her bit. She deserves a rest.”

Weaver’s last brush with the series was providing Ripley’s voice in Sega’s acclaimed “Alien: Isolation” video game in 2014. She’s currently working on the “Avatar” sequels for her “Aliens” helmer James Cameron.
