Jojo Rabbit
Fox Searchlight has set an October 18th release for Taika Waititi’s WW2 film “Jojo Rabbit” which is based on Christine Leunens’ novel “Caging Skies”. Roman Griffin Davis plays a young German boy who discovers that his single mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young girl in their attic (Thomasin McKenzie).

Aided by his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler (Waititi), the boy must confront his naive patriotism. Rebel Wilson, Stephen Merchant, Alfie Allen, and Sam Rockwell also star. [Source: Deadline]

The Purge
Universal Pictures, Blumhouse Productions and Platinum Dunes have set a July 10th 2020 release date for an untitled new film in “The Purge” franchise. Creator James DeMonaco is returning to pen the script and Jason Blum is producing. [Source: The Wrap]

Down Under Cover
“Avengers: Endgame” directors Joe and Anthony Russo are re-teaming with Chris Hemsworth, the pair committing to produce the buddy-cop action comedy “Down Under Cover” which co-stars Tiffany Haddish. Mike Larocca will also produce.

Hemsworth will play a detective who goes undercover to crack a series of baffling casino heists in which the prime suspects are a troupe of Australian male erotic dancers. He’s forced to take the partner no one else will – a lone wolf (Haddish) who does things only one way: hers. [Source: Deadline]

Untitled Levi Roots Biopic
Fred Films and Powder Keg Pictures (“Fisherman’s Friends”) working on a biopic about Jamaica-born musician, chef and businessman Levi Roots. Meg Leonard and Nick Moorcroft will also write the film’s screenplay.

Roots was a successful Reggae artist until his music career was cut short after he was sentenced to nine years in prison for drug offences. While serving time he came up with the idea for creating ’Reggae Reggae Sauce’, inspired by his Grandmother’s Caribbean cooking, and built a Caribbean food empire now worth £35 million. Star Wars
Disneyland’s upcoming massive 14-acre attraction “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” isn’t open to the public yet, but Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger tweeted photos on Saturday that showed him taking a look inside the attraction with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, directors J.J. Abrams, Steven Spielberg and Galaxy’s Edge creator Scott Trowbridge. Galaxy’s Edge is scheduled to open on May 31st at Disneyland in Anaheim and August 29th at DisneyWorld in Florida.
