Ezra Miller’s “Flash” Won’t Shoot For A While
Ezra Miller signed on to play The Flash for Warner Bros. and DC Films five years ago, but to date has only appeared seriously on screen in “Justice League” and two brief cameos in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Suicide Squad”.
A solo film featuring his character has long been in the works, but has yet come to fruition. Now a new report indicates the film may finally start production in the near future – but it has to clear one more hurdle first. Miller was selected as part of Variety’s Power of Pride List for 2019, with the outlet saying:
“Miller, who plays the ultra-swift superhero The Flash, will get his DC Universe stand alone film as soon as he wraps up his work on the ‘Harry Potter’ spin-off series ‘Fantastic Beasts.’”
Production on the next “Fantastic Beasts” was delayed earlier this year as the studio reportedly wants more time to prepare and knew it wouldn’t be able to meet its original July start date. Filming is now expected to begin Spring next year ahead of a late 2021 release.
This would suggest the earliest Miller could get to work on “The Flash” won’t be until the back half of next year. In March, reports arose that Miller was teaming with comic book legend Grant Morrison to rework the script for his solo film. Not much has surfaced since then. “Game Night” duo John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein remain attached as directors.
